SOHU TO BROADCAST LIVE WORLD RX ACTION TO CHINESE FANS IN 2018

IMG has concluded a new partnership deal with TRS Communications Company that will see China’s leading online broadcaster Sohu show almost every round of the FIA World Rallycross Championship presented by Monster Energy live in 2018.

As World RX continues to expand into new territories and gain ever-increasing traction all around the globe, the agreement with Sohu represents the first time Chinese fans will be granted live, free-to-air access to the series’ high-octane entertainment.

“The FIA World Rallycross Championship is one of the most exciting and highest-calibre motorsport disciplines in the world,” said Joe Li, President of TRS Communications Company, Sohu’s parent brand.

“The cars are faster away from the line than Formula 1, with a more challenging track surface than in the World Rally Championship and more wheel-to-wheel action than NASCAR. TRS is working hard to introduce ever-increasing numbers of Chinese people to this sport so that they too fall in love with it. Watch out – World RX is coming!”

World RX Managing Director for IMG, Paul Bellamy, added: “To have reached a deal that will not only see the World Rallycross Championship broadcast in China for the first time – but broadcast live – is fantastic news, and underscores the series’ burgeoning international appeal. The racing in World RX is never anything less than thrillingly fast-paced, and we are sure our growing fanbase in the country will lap up the action.”

Beginning with this weekend’s Coyote World RX of Belgium (12-13 May), Sohu will broadcast all 2018 World RX events live via TV.sohu.com and Sohu Sports Live Platform. The Canadian and US rounds will be a delayed broadcast to accommodate local time zones.

TRS is additionally in the process of setting up official World RX pages on Chinese social media networks Sina Weibo and Wechat.
