PIENIAZEK PRIMED FOR ASPHALT

M-Sport Ford World Rally Team’s Łukasz Pieniążek and Kamil Heller are primed for their first asphalt outing with the EcoBoost-powered Ford Fiesta R5. Contesting next week’s Tour de Corse, the Polish pairing will tackle their third surface in as many events as part of the FIA World Rally Championship’s premier support series, WRC 2 Pro.

Łukasz Pieniążek said:

“The Tour de Corse is a very demanding rally with very twisty and tricky roads. Technically it’s one of the most challenging rallies on the calendar, and it’s no wonder why it’s called ‘The Rally of 10 000 Corners’.

“The recce will be very important, especially as 80 percent of the route is completely new this year. The 47 kilometre Castagniccia stage on Saturday will be quite a challenge and it will be important to keep maximum focus from start to finish.

“This will be our first asphalt rally with the Fiesta, but it traditionally handles very well on this type of surface and – even if we are yet to try the car in asphalt trim – I’m really looking forward to the weekend. We’ll have a pre-event test on Sunday, and then focus on doing the best we can during the rally.”
