ROSSEL BROTHERS TEAM UP IN 2025 TO DRIVE THE C3 RALLY2 TO NEW HEIGHTS IN WRC2!

  • Having impressed this season on both tarmac and gravel at events in the WRC2 with Nikolay Gryazin and Yohan Rossel behind the wheel, the official C3 Rally2 aims to pursue its fine form in the world championship in 2025, this time driven by brothers Yohan and Léo Rossel.
  • The #C3Rally2Family enjoyed a successful 2024, amassing no less than 135 wins worldwide, reflecting the competitiveness and versatility of the C3 Rally2, as well as the quality of service provided by Citroën Racing.

Continuously refined by the dedicated teams at Citroën Racing in close collaboration with customer teams, the Citroën C3 Rally2 enjoyed upgrades in 2024 that confirmed its incredible speed on tarmac, whilst also ensuring it became increasingly competitive on gravel. Seven years from its introduction, the car has clearly reached maturity in terms of reliability and competitiveness, without having exhausted its potential for improvement.

These qualities have made the car immensely popular with teams and drivers, enabling it to secure numerous victories throughout 2024. Starting with Yohan Rossel – Florian Barral and Nikolay Gryazin – Konstantin Aleksandrov, Citroën Racing’s official crews in the WRC2 this year, who secured the WRC2 Team title with Belgian DG Sport Compétition team clinch the WRC2 Team title thanks to six class wins at a variety of demanding events: Rallye Monte-Carlo, Rally Croatia, Rally de Portugal, Rally Chile, Central European Rally and Rally Japan. In racking up two one-twos (in Croatia and Chile), several other podium finishes and 90 stage wins, Nikolay and Yohan showed genuine pace in what is an incredibly competitive class, finishing third and fourth respectively in the WRC2 standings.

Building on this fruitful collaboration, Yohan Rossel, once again paired with Arnaud Dunand, will remain Citroën Racing’s official driver in WRC2 for 2025. In a Yacco-backed C3 Rally2, he will be joined by his brother Léo and co-driver Guillaume Mercoiret, with both starting their seven-round programs at Monte-Carlo and supported by the expertise of the PH Sport team. Darmezin and Valentin Augé will be competing on behalf of Citroën Racing in the French Rally Championship after winning the 2024 Stellantis Motorsport Rally Cup, as will Yoann Bonato and Benjamin Boulloud. Pablo Sarrazin – Geoffrey Combe and Sarah Rumeau – Julie Amblard, who will be competing in a C3 Rally2 in the WRC2, in the French Rally Championship and in the French Gravel Rally Championship with the Iron Lynx and Iron Dames teams respectively, will be supported by Citroën Racing. The same will go for Réhane Gany – Frank Le Floch in their entry in the French Rally Championship.

Of course, the C3 Rally2, with some 135 wins in 2024, as a title to defend in the French Rally Championship after Léo Rossel and Guillaume Mercoiret took top honours this year in only their second full season in the championship, whilst the Bonato-Boulloud crew finished as runners-up. The #C3Rally2Family also enjoyed strong results in the ERC (two rally wins), the Italian championship (five wins for Andrea Crugnola-Pietro Ometto), in the Spanish SuperChampionship (Diego Ruiloba ended as runner-up) and in Latin America. In Mexico, Ricardo Cordero Jnr and Marco Hernandez won their fifth championship, securing a fourth straight title in a run stretching back to 2021. They even made a little bit of history, becoming the first Mexicans to win an event in the Rally America National Championship at the Oregon Trail Rally. In Chile, the Heller brothers – Alberto and Pedro – finished first and second in the RC2 Pro championship whilst Tadeo Rosselot – Sebastián Olguín claimed the RC2 title.

The success enjoyed by the #C3Rally2Family did not stop there, however, as Yeray Lemes led a one-two at the Canarias de Rallys, Kenneth Madsen claimed another title in Denmark and Gary Chaynes took top honours in Côte d’Ivoire. The car also recorded first-class performances in Belgium, where Citroën Racing secured the manufacturers title, and in New Zealand, where Emma Gilmour and Malcolm Read finished third in the championship. Clearly, the incredibly versatile C3 Rally2 travels well!
